Every parent will not miss out on recording their children’s appearance at different stages of growth. Recently, a customer asked us to take a total of 6 sets of photos in more than a year! This mother first found us online and made an appointment to take maternity photos, newborn photos and 100-day photos. When the baby was one year old, we recommended taking Cake Smash birthday photos for her. Just now, we took two sets of baby-style photos full of festive atmosphere for Christmas and Chinese New Year. This lucky and cute baby is named Xiaojiu. Why is her name so special? Because the baby has two Shiba Inu brothers and sisters – Xiaoqi and Xiaoba, so the editor is impressed! When I first met Xiaojiu, she was still a newborn baby. When we took the Cake Smash photos, she already knew how to take small steps and learn to speak! Life is really amazing, and every photo shoot is a testimony of growth!
First meeting – Maternity photo shoot in Hong Kong
On the day of the Maternity Photography shoot, my mother, in addition to my father-in-law, also brought two Shiba Inus to our studio to take family photos. In terms of personal styling, my mother chose a very popular home style, and she especially liked the artistic veil style that can highlight her personality! The six-meter-wide floor-to-ceiling glass of the studio creates perfect natural light, and the pet-friendly environment makes them feel as comfortable as at home. After the shoot, she told us that getting along with the photographer Coral Poon and the editor’s assistant was as natural as communicating with her bestie. After the maternity photography shoot, they were all very excited, and immediately made an appointment to take the first-born photos of the little nine in their belly!
Home visit: Baby photography for the first 100 days of life – unforgettable for parents
They chose our door-to-door service for the newborn photo shoot, for which we prepared a variety of props and costumes. The mother was amazed at the photographer’s gesture of wrapping the baby. In Coral’s hands, Xiaojiu quickly fell asleep. While we were shooting, we praised Xiaojiu’s cute look and couldn’t help but take some photos with our mobile phone and send them back to us. It turns out that Xiaojiu’s father also loves photography and is always curious about our shooting techniques and equipment. After the shooting was completed, he was very happy that his father also liked this series of photos! As for the hundred-day photo shoot, the customer also chose door-to-door shooting. On the day of the shooting, the mother decorated the room for Xiaojiu ingeniously. After shooting the personal look we designed for Xiaojiu, Coral also took some additional home-style photos for the baby on the spot. Xiaojiu’s family likes our European and American simple style works very much, which are classic and durable. As Christmas approaches, we took a series of cute Christmas photos for Xiaojiu, who already knows how to sit, and his two Shiba Inu brothers and sisters. Our holiday scenes are different every year, so as to give customers more freshness!
Fun-filled Cake Smash session (recommended!)
We took several photos for Xiaojiu, but the most memorable one for me was the cake smashing photo of Xiaojiu on her first birthday, because each Cake Smash session was challenging. Some babies were afraid of cakes or didn’t want to get them dirty, while others were curious about cakes. The techniques for coaxing babies were completely different! Xiaojiu was the latter, and she had a lot of fun smashing cakes. In the end, she ate the entire delicious cream cake. We also successfully took many photos that satisfied the customers. The most surprising thing about this photo shoot for the mother was that we were able to design the birthday one-year-old word card on the cake and the flower headdress on Xiaojiu’s head in a very short time according to the requirements that the mother told us two days before the photo shoot.
Two experts help – Cake Smash Carpentry and Floral Art
Carpenter Geoff Wong owns his own studio “Zi Mu”. The studio regularly holds woodworking workshops, such as a solid wood keychain workshop on Valentine’s Day, so that everyone who wants to experience woodworking can have a try at the fun of creating wooden crafts by hand. In addition, the studio also accepts customized orders, from small simple wooden boxes, mobile phone holders to large shoe racks, all of which are handmade. When Geoff received our request, he immediately discussed the design and production of the sign with us. In addition to this one-year-old birthday sign, Xiaoyang Photography and “Zi Mu” have collaborated to create two newborn baby photography props that are fully handmade locally, including a very dreamy moon-shaped wooden bed and a Christmas sleigh. If you pay attention to our IG, you will see that we use these two artworks as props in many newborn baby photos. Many customers are full of praise for our ability to take unique works!
The flower headpiece was created by florist Ling Wong. Because Coral’s work has always been fond of colorful and lively flower headpieces, especially those that are more harmonious with newborn babies, we have always collaborated with Ling, and our works are closely linked. Ling’s personal flower brand “Chic Florist” regularly holds preserved flower workshops, and also Christmas wreath and mini Christmas tree workshops during Christmas. The brand has flower bouquets, silk flower bouquets, thank-you bouquets and other floral creations, and also arranges flowers for photo studios. This time, Ling worked all night to create this unique headpiece for us, which matches the birthday cake card made by Geoff perfectly. I really have to thank the two old friends for their help in successfully completing the photo shoot for Xiaojiu this time!
